Homecoming Sunday
Homecoming Sunday is an annual First Methodist Church of Oviedo event!
What is Homecoming?
Our Homecoming Tradition is over 100 years old! Traditionally this is when members who have moved away come back to visit. We’d eat a potluck with our church family on the green (Think orange crates instead of chairs).
Nowadays Homecoming has evolved to look a little different. But we still have what’s important:
Each other
Jesus
&
Swamp Cabbage (it’s a tradition!)
This year’s Homecoming:
We’ll be doing one service again this year! It’s a great opportunity for our church family to come together to worship as one body of Christ. This year we’ll be celebrating 153 years!
More details on this year’s celebration to come. Check back for more!

Zambia Mission Trip
Zambia Mission Trip - July 11 - July 25.
What we will be doing:
This summer, a team of six from First Methodist Church of Oviedo will travel to Zambia to partner with New Life Zambia in sharing the love of Christ through worship, teaching, and service.
During our time in Zambia, we will host a Kids' Bible Camp for 75 children, providing a fun and faith-filled experience centered on God's love. Pastor Brian will preach during Sunday worship, and our team will also help lead a special youth event following the service.
In addition, we will offer teaching and encouragement for pastors and church leaders, equipping them for ministry in their communities. The final part of our trip will focus on hands-on service as we help create mobility devices for individuals with disabilities, participate in a feeding program, paint facilities, and spend time interacting with preschool children.
How you can help:
We invite you to pray for our team, our ministry partners at New Life Zambia, and everyone we will have the privilege of serving. May God use this mission to strengthen His church and share His hope and love in Zambia.

Our hosts have invited us to partner with them by helping provide meals for those attending the Kids' Bible Camp and Adult Teaching Sessions. For just $10 per person, we can provide 2½ days of meals for one participant. Our goal is to provide food for 75 children and 25 adults, with a total fundraising goal of $1,000.
Update: Thanks to the amazing generosity of our church, we met the $1,000 fundraising goal in our first week! 75 children and 25 adults will receive meals while attending our VBS and Teaching Sessions. We also raised enough to cover part of our team's meals and local transportation.
As with any mission, there is always more to support. We will continue to collect contributions through this week and all funds will go directly to supporting the team's mission in Zambia!
Will you prayerfully consider supporting this ministry? Your gift will help nourish both bodies and souls as we join our brothers and sisters in Zambia in sharing God's love and hope. To give online, click here: https://onrealm.org/FirstMethodistO/give/Zambia2026 . To give by check, indicate Zambia in the memo line. Thank you!
