Daily Advent Reading

This is our Digital Advent Calendar for 2023. We would hope you could join in daily during the season of Advent. Every day’s Advent Gift box will have a new Scripture to read and reflect on. Every Thursday there will be a Children’s Ministry Activity for you and your children. Every Tuesday there will be a question for adults to enjoy and engage on our Facebook page.

Romans 6:20-23

20 When you were slaves to sin, you were free from the control of righteousness.

21 What benefit did you reap at that time from the things you are now ashamed of? Those things result in death!

22 But now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves of God, the benefit you reap leads to holiness, and the result is eternal life.

23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Devotional

When the apostle Paul wrote these words to the Christians in Rome reminding them of how they had chosen to live their lives before they came to know Jesus. Their lives reflected things that were not of God because their nature was one of a person who was not in a relationship with God.

Paul then contrasts their lives after they opened up their lives to God’s forgiveness, which they received through Jesus Christ. That new life, which they received as a gift from God, set them free from everything that came before. They are no longer “slaves” of sin, instead, they are servants of God.

In the season of Advent we celebrate that we live each day in the freedom of a connection with God made possibly by the love of Jesus Christ.

Christmas Bells have been around for a long time and are one of the most commonly held traditions. These bells can range from midnight bells that are rung at midnight from the local church in a small city to Santa's sleigh bells jingling on the rooftops as he bellows out MERRY CHRISTMAS!

There are many different songs that speak of bells. Some of the most popular are the following:

  • Silver Bells

  • Carol of the Bells

  • Jingle Bells

  • Jingle Bell Rock

  • I Heard The Bells On Christmas Day

  • Sleigh Ride

Listen to some of those songs to see if you can hear the bells! The use of bells has become common in Christmas Music, Christmas Movies, and many other Christmas functions. Christmas Bells can be seen on light posts that light up the streets at night, are hung on many Christmas trees, and can be heard in every house in America that celebrates Christmas.

Listen to a fun message from Mrs. Kalee to all our children!
