Daily Advent Reading
This is our Digital Advent Calendar for 2023. We would hope you could join in daily during the season of Advent. Every day’s Advent Gift box will have a new Scripture to read and reflect on. Every Thursday there will be a Children’s Ministry Activity for you and your children. Every Tuesday there will be a question for adults to enjoy and engage on our Facebook page.
Titus 3:3-7
3 At one time we too were foolish, disobedient, deceived and enslaved by all kinds of passions and pleasures. We lived in malice and envy, being hated and hating one another.
4 But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared,
5 he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit,
6 whom he poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ our Savior,
7 so that, having been justified by his grace, we might become heirs having the hope of eternal life.
Devotional
Many of us seem to think that Christmas offers us a season when we have a reason to be a little bit nicer and offer one another a little more consideration. The truth is that we can never through our own determination truly be transformed that comes as a gift from God. The presence of the Holy Spirit is what changes us into people who genuinely reflect Jesus Christ to others by the way we live.
Paul reminds Titus that our salvation and eternal life isn’t given to us because we do righteous things. It is God’s mercy that has saved us. It’s the washing away of our sins and regeneration that comes from the renewing of the Holy Spirit in us that we are changed. When Jesus came down in the form of a tiny infant He extends God’s grace to us, making us right with God and even making us heirs of eternal life. What a perfect reason to celebrate a season!
