Daniel 7:13-14
13 “In my vision at night I looked, and there before me was one like a son of man, coming with the clouds of heaven. He approached the Ancient of Days and was led into his presence.
14 He was given authority, glory and sovereign power; all nations and peoples of every language worshiped him. His dominion is an everlasting dominion that will not pass away, and his kingdom is one that will never be destroyed.
Devotional
The book of Daniel is a prophecy written by an Israelite in exile. The exile and judgement prophesied in Isaiah has come to pass, and the great men of the kingdom of Judah have been carried off to Babylon, Daniel included.
In the midst of the upheaval of the Israelite kingdom, and exile amongst foreign, godless peoples, the question could arise: “Where is Yahweh?” The Lord gives Daniel several visions in order to instruct His people about His purposes. Yahweh shows him. Daniel catches a glimpse of the future King who will reign over all nations.
The coming of Jesus Christ is the reason why we can sing, “Joy to the Word” with all our hearts. It is because Jesus has received authority over all nations, He is the One who took on the weakness of human flesh in the incarnation. Because of that the Father is pleased to give all things to Him.
